InternetSpeedTest.fit measures your connection and translates the result into language you can act on — not four confusing numbers, but one clear score.

Why we built this

Most speed tests hand you raw metrics — megabits per second, milliseconds of ping, percentages of packet loss — and leave you to figure out whether your connection is actually good enough for what you do. If you are not a network engineer, those numbers are essentially meaningless.

We built InternetSpeedTest.fit to solve that problem. The Internet Fitness Score translates those raw metrics into a single, intuitive 0–100 number, then breaks it down by activity: streaming, gaming, video calls, remote work, browsing, and downloads. You immediately know whether your connection handles what you need it to handle.

Beyond the tool itself, we publish original, in-depth guides and articles about internet performance, WiFi troubleshooting, and home network optimisation. Every piece is researched, written, and fact-checked by our editorial team — no filler content, no affiliate lists, no content generated to game search rankings.

How the test works

Three phases, roughly 25 seconds end to end.

  1. 1 · Latency and stability

    We open a low-bandwidth stream to the nearest measurement server and sample round-trip time repeatedly, deriving ping, jitter and packet loss from the distribution rather than a single probe.

  2. 2 · Sustained throughput

    Parallel connections saturate the downstream and then the upstream link. We report sustained throughput after the ramp-up window, not the peak burst, because that is what streaming and backups actually get.

  3. 3 · Scoring

    Each measurement is normalised against real-world requirements and weighted: download 35%, upload 20%, ping 20%, jitter 15%, packet loss 10%. Per-activity ratings re-weight the same inputs for what each activity depends on.
